Teenagers show pedal power at Blaze launch event

Young bikers got into gear to launch Blaze at Preston’s 53 Degrees on Thursday 27th May by staging BMX Beats, a biker-controlled music and video challenge using BMX ramps and laser trip technology.

Paralympian Shelly Woods, a silver and bronze medal winner from Blackpool, also gave a talk about her experiences as a top sportswoman and her hopes for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

Sara Domville, Blaze programme manager, said: “The Blaze project is about helping young people to realise their creative aspirations and to work with artists to develop a vibrant programme of new work which will excite, surprise and engage residents and visitors to Lancashire and the Fylde Coast this summer.

“The young creative teams have worked so hard and we are all really excited about seeing the projects come together over the coming months.

“I would like to thank everyone who attended our launch event and hope they will continue to support this fantastic project.”
