One-day festival of light organised and delivered by young people in Blackpool. The festival is inspired by the Illuminations Centenary and in response to major UK artist, Brian Griffiths’ exhibition at Grundy Art Gallery. Under The Town Festival will feature visual arts, music, fashion and throughout the day specially chorreographed performances.

Through the planning process the young people have been working with many professional artists, including; Richard Proffitt, Rock Hard Music Group, Noel Clueit, Angela Hulme, film, photography and dance artists.

The festival’s young people have collaborated with Liverpool-based artist, Laurence Payot to design and create a new illumination to mark the Centenary of the Illuminations and celebrate London 2012. This will be unveiled at the festival.

They have also appointed choreographer, Sarah Jane Lockwood, who is working with sports and dance groups across Blackpool to create a new performance piece called Move Off, which will fuse all of their movements together. This performance will be one of the many highlights at the festival.
