Hundreds of inspirational young people across Lancashire created events and took up challenges as part of the 360° Challenge in summer 2011.
From 3rd to 8th August, 12 participatory events, at 12 different community centres, in 12 different Lancashire districts brought together and celebrated sports and arts, inspired by the theme of 360°, wheels, circles and the connections of the Olympic rings.
Linking all the events was the inspirational Big 360° Cycle Ride. Sixteen young people plus support cycled the near circumference of Lancashire, stopping off at youth centres along the way to see the planned Olympic 360° themed events taking place.
Young People’s Service and The Dukes worked in partnership with Blaze to enable groups of young people around the county to develop events with the following values at the heart:
respect, fair play, knowing one’s own limits, taking care of one’s health and the environment, excellence, taking part; and progressing, friendship and understanding each other despite any differences, courage, determination, inspiration and equality.
Check out the interactive map on the YPS webstie for details of the route the cyclists took.
