I’m Kajol, I’m 16 and from Blackpool! My interests include music, playing guitar, going to gigs and cultural events. I really love art, science, books, films and everything 60s. If I could I would create and organise spectacular events that bring people together and make them feel amazing. I also love writing about things that I’m passionate about.

On my Ignite placement as Cultural Olympiad Correspondent for Culturapedia, I’ll be writing for mailout.co; giving my personal thoughts on Cultural Olympiad events across the nation – “the most inspiring and innovative creative activities set to revolutionise the UK’s cultural landscape in preparation for the London 2012 Games.”

I want to develop my writing skills so that I can pursue a career in journalism. I also want to gain excellent experience in the field and have an active role in such an important part of the nation’s history.

Hopefully this experience will make me realise the advantages and disadvantages of working in this kind of field and whether I still want to develop my career in journalism or move onto something I think I’d be better suited. However, I think journalism is probably what I’d like to do!

Kajol is an official Olympic Torchbearer and will be carrying the Flame through Fleetwood on Friday 22nd June. She was nominated to be a Torchbearer following her inspiring work as part of Under the Town in 2011. Read about more about her nomination here.
